Video Summary

EBE introduces Emily, its robotic process automation (RPA) solution, which automates repetitive back-office tasks around the clock, reduces data-entry errors, and helps employees focus on skilled work.

The main presentation is a TCA webinar on cybersecurity for trucking and transportation businesses. NMFTA cybersecurity principal engineer Ben Wilkins explains that common threats—including phishing, stolen credentials, outdated software, and insecure web applications—can also enable cargo theft. He recommends treating cybersecurity as a long-term investment in protecting business operations, not merely a cost.

Wilkins outlines a practical, business-led approach: identify critical systems and data, assess risk by likelihood and impact, establish risk tolerance, evaluate existing protections, and prioritize gaps. Core safeguards include role-specific ongoing staff training, strong passwords, multifactor authentication, least-privilege access, prompt patching, and secure, tested, immutable backups.

He also emphasizes leadership support and a security-aware workplace culture, regular reviews and audits, updated risk registers, tabletop exercises, and properly scoped penetration tests. Plans should be tailored to each organization and revisited as the business and threat landscape change.

In Q&A, Wilkins highlights staff training and multifactor authentication as essential practices for fleets of any size. He also advises building relationships with law enforcement before incidents occur and encouraging open, stigma-free discussion of cybersecurity.
