Online RR Series: Mastering Recruitment & Retention Technology for Business Success-Mastering Recruitment & Retention Technology for Business Success

Video Transcription

Video Summary

The final webinar in TCA and HireTruckers’ 2026 recruitment and retention series explored how technology can improve the driver experience throughout the talent lifecycle.

TramCore’s Riley Bragger described how the 150-truck family carrier uses an applicant tracking system and Culture Index assessments to evaluate candidates, identify suitable roles, and help driver managers understand how to work effectively with each driver. The company combines automated application steps with personal contact, pre-orientation materials, and a short, discussion-led orientation.

Panelists emphasized that technology should streamline routine work and provide useful insights—not replace human judgment or relationships. AI may help with initial responses and after-hours inquiries, but sensitive discussions about pay, home time, and job expectations should involve people. Tools also need clear guardrails, broad staff adoption, and follow-through.

Retention depends on listening, responding quickly, setting realistic expectations, and treating drivers as business partners. Fleets should use technology to identify potential issues and free staff to spend more time supporting drivers. The panel’s central message: technology can make a consistent, well-informed experience possible, but trust and a strong company culture are built through human connection and genuine advocacy for drivers.
